About The Event

Instituted more than 20 years ago, the Strategic Energy Assessment (SEA) is the closest approximation Wisconsin has to an electric utility planning process that is accessible to the public. The SEA, which the PSC must update every two years, profiles the state’s electricity system and provides an assessment of its likely performance between now and 2028. Priority areas of review include resource adequacy,  reliability of electric supply and service, affordability of customer rates and bills, and emerging environmental trends and issues associated with electricity generation.

This webinar will identify the data gaps in the draft assessment and examine the emerging structural changes likely to influence utility strategies for reducing carbon emissions. We are framing this webinar to function as a springboard for public participation in this proceeding, using the draft report to articulate themes and messages that the PSC should hear from clean energy supporters.

Our ultimate aim is to motivate stakeholders to understand what actions the PSC could take to ensure measurable progress in decarbonizing Wisconsin’s electric power system.
