About The Event
Stephanie Salgado (She/Her) was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and has fond memories of life in her home country. Her family is large but close-knit. In 2015, Stephanie and her family fled Honduras due to gang violence and corrupt politics. When she came to Chicago and then Madison, she saw nobody that looked like her and experienced xenophobia and discrimination. Stephanie was inspired and wanted to learn about the social justice perspective of climate change. Now, she is a student at UW- Madison majoring in political science and environmental studies, with a certificate in public policy, and is seeking to build a sustainable and equitable future through pragmatic political compromises.
